The Pontificia Universidad Católica Del Perú Quality Institute came into being in 1993 as a Special Quality Project, through an agreement signed by the Pontificia Universidad Católica Del Perú (PUCP) and the Peruvian state for the performance of audits on private labs at the orders of the National Institute for the Defense of Free Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI). On June 7, 1995, the Chancellor’s Office of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Del Perú formally created the Quality Institute for the purpose of fostering the issue of quality in Peru, and at the university itself. The Institute’s creation was intended to develop the concept of quality in all areas of interest to society, including both public and private enterprise, as well as the community in general.
Over the years, the work of the Quality Institute has been consolidated thanks to its interaction with a range of Peruvian and international organizations, providing it with a close-up view of the evolution of the issue of quality and related concepts.
Currently, the Quality Institute continues working with the country’s different production sectors, providing training, consultancy, and product certification services, as well as carrying out tailor-made projects.
